Mark McCumber turned professional in 1974 and joined the PGA Tour in 1978. McCumber won 10 PGA Tour events through 1995 including the 1998 Tournament Players Championship. Mark McCumber and Ben Crenshaw won the 1998 world cup for the United States finishing one stroke ahead of Japan. After European victories in 1985 and 1987, the U.S. Ryder Cup Team rallied in 1989 to tie, 14-14, due in part to single victories by Mark McCumber, Tom Watson, Lanny Wadkins and Curtis Strange.
